Creative Artisan Paper is a proudly Tasmanian owned and operated artisan paper merchant with a focus on high quality art paper. We are based on Tasmania’s rugged North West Coast, a place long connected with paper milling and making. Our paper is handmade by artisans from this place, in this place, with materials of this place.
Australia’s leading arts and social justice organisation Big hART is collaborating with Creative Artisan Paper to realise its full potential and to co-create arts and community development opportunities and experiences around this traditional art form.

Paper Maker
Darren Simpson
Darren Simpson is a master paper maker, who has been honing his skills in the traditional practices of handmade paper since 1996, making high quality paper that is sought after around the world. Darren was born, raised and learnt to make paper on Tasmania’s North West Coast.
The Community
Paper making classes
Throughout spring, Creative Artisan Paper is running weekly community paper making sessions at on Monday evenings at The Watershed, Wynyard. Enjoy a series of three diverse courses exploring different methods of papermaking, integrating natural and found materials, and getting creative with 3D formations and sculpture.
New paper making workshops with Master Paper Maker, Darren Simpson, will be coming in 2023.
